You are here

Do you know where you are? Looking ahead or behind? Here's a look at our perspective - Are You Present?

[00:00:00] Welcome to this episode of The Marriage Creative.

[00:00:23] We are a happy family with one really big story and we want to help you grow, strengthen

[00:00:28] and rekindle your marriage.

[00:00:34] Welcome into the Marriage Creative podcast.

[00:00:36] I'm Caleb Nelson and that's my wife, Carla, who's not driving.

[00:00:43] But she is laughing.

[00:00:44] I thought we were going to get through an intro of no driving, no laughing.

[00:00:49] Sorry.

[00:00:50] It's okay.

[00:00:51] It's okay.

[00:00:52] I don't laugh when you drive though.

[00:00:53] But you know we had a great reception on that show.

[00:00:57] We need to do it on the road more often.

[00:00:59] It sounds like we're on the road with these heaters running in here.

[00:01:02] It was almost 70 degrees this morning and now it's 40 this evening.

[00:01:07] Yes, definitely.

[00:01:08] So thanks Texas.

[00:01:09] Dropping.

[00:01:10] We don't even get ice.

[00:01:11] We just get the cold air.

[00:01:12] Well I'd rather have just cold and ice.

[00:01:14] I'm not complaining.

[00:01:15] I'm not complaining about any snow.

[00:01:18] That's what I'm complaining about.

[00:01:19] I'm ready for spring.

[00:01:20] No.

[00:01:21] I've moved on.

[00:01:22] No.

[00:01:23] Speaking of moving on.

[00:01:24] Yeah.

[00:01:25] That was something that...

[00:01:26] That was a great show back in the 70s.

[00:01:30] Moving on?

[00:01:31] Truck drivers.

[00:01:32] What's up big wheels rolling, moving on?

[00:01:35] Yeah, I think I do remember that.

[00:01:38] Men like Will and Sonny.

[00:01:41] They were always talking on their CVs.

[00:01:43] Living like a gypsy.

[00:01:44] Always on the road doing what you best know how to do.

[00:01:47] What were their names?

[00:01:48] Jamming gears has got to be a fever because men like Will and Sonny make it move.

[00:01:57] Steady hand.

[00:01:58] Hold that hammer down.

[00:02:01] I got that album somewhere man.

[00:02:02] Oh brother.

[00:02:03] Make sure I have my big wheel and play the album in the garage when I was a kid.

[00:02:07] I always want to be a truck driver.

[00:02:08] We are looking way back.

[00:02:09] Yeah, it's before I want to be a trash truck driver.

[00:02:12] Anyway.

[00:02:13] High aspirations.

[00:02:14] Yeah.

[00:02:15] Hey you know what I'm saying?

[00:02:16] I mean you look at people who own those corporations or mega millionaires.

[00:02:21] Yeah.

[00:02:22] But they started somewhere.

[00:02:25] But they ain't driving the trash truck.

[00:02:26] Well maybe not.

[00:02:27] There might be somebody right now listening to us driving a trash truck.

[00:02:30] Yeah I know.

[00:02:31] So I feel you.

[00:02:32] I'm just saying like.

[00:02:33] I ain't moving on.

[00:02:34] That was all you wanted to do.

[00:02:36] Moving on.

[00:02:37] What was the moving on?

[00:02:40] Well if you wouldn't have distracted us I wouldn't have lost my train of thought.

[00:02:43] So have you found it yet?

[00:02:45] I was just saying you know thinking about looking back and looking forward I guess

[00:02:53] because it's a new year.

[00:02:56] It's a new month as well.

[00:02:58] Yeah.

[00:02:59] And a new season of the Marriage Creative Podcast.

[00:03:01] Yeah season two.

[00:03:04] All things new here.

[00:03:05] All things new.

[00:03:08] So when I was thinking about that.

[00:03:09] Season two plus episode five equals seven what does that mean Jesus?

[00:03:14] Is this episode five?

[00:03:15] Yeah I think.

[00:03:16] Right.

[00:03:17] Might be six.

[00:03:18] I don't know.

[00:03:19] You're just pulling out random things.

[00:03:21] Go ahead.

[00:03:24] Anyway see look I can't even get a thought out because you just keep.

[00:03:29] I'm just trying to keep it distracted.

[00:03:31] For growing stuff out there.

[00:03:32] Alright so moving on it's a new year.

[00:03:35] New podcast season.

[00:03:37] Cameras are coming soon.

[00:03:38] No.

[00:03:39] What's next moving on?

[00:03:41] No.

[00:03:42] What's next?

[00:03:43] No cameras.

[00:03:44] I got a camera right there.

[00:03:46] What better not be on?

[00:03:48] Maybe moving on to the topic here.

[00:03:53] I can't even focus anymore.

[00:03:57] If I had a ladybug.

[00:03:58] Not often that I get her flummoxed but okay so you were moving on it was a new year.

[00:04:06] I know what I was going to say.

[00:04:07] I was talking about.

[00:04:08] Looking forward looking backward.

[00:04:09] Yeah so this morning I had spent my morning you know as I was just sitting I was studying

[00:04:18] for a little while reading the Bible and I was thinking about the new year.

[00:04:25] So I was thinking about looking forward into the new year but then I spent the next couple

[00:04:30] hours of my morning looking backwards because I was you know kind of telling part of my cancer

[00:04:38] journey.

[00:04:39] Oh when you were been interviewed earlier today.

[00:04:41] And so I started out looking forward then I spent a couple hours looking backwards and

[00:04:53] then as I left from that interview and was thinking about getting back into what we

[00:04:59] had going on today you know going back forward again.

[00:05:05] And I was just thinking about how I guess how big of an effect not just our own history

[00:05:16] but when we reflect how much it affects our present and our future you know.

[00:05:24] I think it's hard to strike a balance I guess is what I'm saying.

[00:05:30] You can't live your life looking backwards.

[00:05:33] You know you constantly need to look forwards and move forward but how much.

[00:05:38] But you have to live in the present.

[00:05:41] Yeah but how much our past affects our present and our future.

[00:05:49] I mean truly.

[00:05:51] So kind of like the conversation we had last night where I was just talking about the

[00:05:56] last 20 years and what I've accomplished for our household.

[00:06:00] And you know so it's just funny how.

[00:06:02] It wasn't a long conversation.

[00:06:05] How important it is to reflect backwards because it really does encourage you.

[00:06:14] In some aspects yes.

[00:06:16] What I'm saying it encourages you either way to learn from what you did right or wrong.

[00:06:24] Yeah.

[00:06:26] You know I mean granted it can also discourage you.

[00:06:28] I know that like if you are focused.

[00:06:30] What you're seeing is you're looking at the past as a reminder of the goodness and how

[00:06:35] to take that forward momentum maybe.

[00:06:39] Yeah I'm saying obviously you can look at your past and go you know into regret and

[00:06:46] condemnation and those things but how beneficial it can be also when you reflect back and

[00:06:55] you think of all the different things that you've lived through that God has brought you

[00:07:01] through even just hard things you've experienced but also joy that you've experienced that

[00:07:10] encourages you forward and how I was thinking about that scripture you know that says we're

[00:07:18] made overcomers by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony.

[00:07:23] And one of the things we talked about earlier today was how helpful stories are and we believe

[00:07:31] that to be true that's why we went on the road and started.

[00:07:34] That's why we're sitting here.

[00:07:36] Yeah I mean we learned from other people's stories and then started to tell our story

[00:07:44] you know just thinking how helpful that is.

[00:07:48] And as much as starting into a new year your focus is looking ahead you really need to stop

[00:08:00] and look backwards also you know like it's equally as a.

[00:08:06] Keep things in perspective is really what you're talking about.

[00:08:10] How do you strike a balance between moving forward but still gaining wisdom and perspective

[00:08:21] and from where you've been.

[00:08:23] Yeah you know and how much that should incur like how we live today is going to affect

[00:08:30] tomorrow and so it's so important that you make those right choices every day because

[00:08:38] when you are five years down the road and you look back it's going to matter.

[00:08:44] Oh yeah what you did today right in those five years are like 30 minutes.

[00:08:48] Yeah it just flies by and so today when we were talking about we were I was doing the

[00:08:54] interview and I was we were talking about I was trying to even put pinpoint you know

[00:08:59] timelines and I was sitting there and I was thinking wait a minute how many years ago

[00:09:04] was that right.

[00:09:06] It feels like last year but it was four years ago.

[00:09:11] Right yeah I mean five and six years that you were having symptoms and dealing with things.

[00:09:17] Yeah and I was just thinking how crazy is that that amount of time has gone by you

[00:09:26] know which doesn't seem possible and I know for myself because I'm more impatient when

[00:09:33] I think about I'm not going to put the energy into that because you know you're not going

[00:09:39] to see see any results for another nine months ten months twelve months two years five years.

[00:09:48] I've never been one of those people that wanted to make a five year ten year plan because

[00:09:51] I thought oh that seems so far away but it is nothing.

[00:09:56] No no no not when you crossed the forty not when you crossed the forty year mark

[00:10:02] you're there for sure it exponentially speeds up daily.

[00:10:08] And so I started thinking how the things that I did then and the responses that I had then

[00:10:17] shaped what I'm walking in today and so it's so important what we do today because six

[00:10:26] months from now twelve months from now five years from now you re-put yourself yes

[00:10:32] we're going to be living the results of what we did today.

[00:10:36] Right.

[00:10:37] And so I was just thinking how we think it doesn't matter sometimes how we spend our

[00:10:42] day but it really matters.

[00:10:46] Well I can guarantee you if you don't make a plan if you don't have a plan or a vision

[00:10:52] or whatever you're going to accomplish exactly that nothing.

[00:10:59] I'm living proof we don't go there on the show but I'm just I mean I even set the boys

[00:11:04] down today and I said what's your plan I don't have a plan.

[00:11:10] What's your twelve month plan I don't really have a plan well I guarantee you that you're

[00:11:14] going to achieve it because if you don't have one you're going to have nothing.

[00:11:20] Right.

[00:11:21] This time next year.

[00:11:23] Well your letting life happen to you.

[00:11:26] You're living without purpose and you're living without direction and you think that oh well

[00:11:36] it's just it's just Wednesday.

[00:11:38] That's what I'm getting at.

[00:11:40] It's just and it's just and yeah it's just February first I've got the whole year still.

[00:11:45] Right like where was Christmas.

[00:11:47] Yeah I mean that was a month.

[00:11:49] And so that's my point you know is that you're sitting here and you're thinking

[00:11:53] oh it's only February first we still got the whole year you know I don't need to worry

[00:11:57] about that today.

[00:11:59] I don't have to take care of that today but it's going to be December thirty first before

[00:12:05] you turn around good.

[00:12:06] Yeah and then the whole years go well the tree frogs have already started here on the farm.

[00:12:10] Yeah and that means that winter is over basically for us.

[00:12:14] Thank you Jesus.

[00:12:15] I mean I know that because we moved here in March when we moved here and the tree

[00:12:20] frogs were here and I was like that's really weird there's loads of tree frogs here.

[00:12:26] And the next thing I knew it was July and it was hot as firecrackers and then it's just

[00:12:35] faster ever since but today tree frogs forty degrees outside tree frogs.

[00:12:41] I thought they were cold blooded but that means that the winter is gone.

[00:12:46] For all intents and purposes it's over.

[00:12:48] It's on its way out.

[00:12:50] And wow I mean we didn't even really like live here in the fall you know and we like moving

[00:12:57] right before Christmas which was and then it's almost Valentine's Day.

[00:13:03] So yeah really weird stuff.

[00:13:06] So I guess when I was thinking about that I just thought sometimes we only think about

[00:13:11] the big things and what we consider to be significant you know but how you get out of

[00:13:24] the bed and start the day every day matters because it's there's just no time to waste.

[00:13:31] No no there's not absolutely no time to waste.

[00:13:37] Yeah and well for instance yesterday morning I'm working on some forward financial group

[00:13:44] stuff.

[00:13:45] The local fire department gets a call.

[00:13:48] I don't go because I'm not a fireman.

[00:13:51] I am on the commission board so I'm notified when they go out they send a second call

[00:13:56] they need help and it's a one's it been a forty four year old woman who is in cardiac

[00:14:04] arrest and we worked her for 35 minutes in the house finally got her in the ambulance.

[00:14:13] Spent another 15 or 20 minutes in the ER trying to you know make something happen and they

[00:14:18] called it.

[00:14:19] Forty four years old.

[00:14:22] That's not old.

[00:14:25] No.

[00:14:26] As a 49 year old 44 is young.

[00:14:30] It's about how old you are.

[00:14:32] 49 45.

[00:14:34] And you know that's a perspective shifter.

[00:14:37] That was a trick to get me a SMAGE.

[00:14:39] You said it not me.

[00:14:41] So anyway I'm sure that at one point in that lady's life it was just Wednesday.

[00:14:50] You know I'll exercise tomorrow or I'll handle I'll do the laundry on Friday.

[00:15:01] You know and Friday doesn't come.

[00:15:05] Wednesday don't come.

[00:15:08] So yeah you we have to be so determined every day and this is a kill sermon to himself.

[00:15:21] Sounds like a dad talk but I mean it's really just a reminder.

[00:15:24] It's a good reminder.

[00:15:27] And you don't think I don't think a lot about looking backwards but you make a very great

[00:15:31] a very good point there when you're you're making your case for looking backwards not to be hung

[00:15:38] up there but to find your lessons find your blessings and grow from both of them.

[00:15:45] For sure.

[00:15:46] Well and one of the things that I recognized in myself today was looking back and kind of

[00:16:00] walking through the process from beginning to end of that sort of saga just thinking

[00:16:12] back through what was going on in my own mind and headspace and emotions.

[00:16:24] It's just truly how deep the condemnation was that I was living in or under self-imposed

[00:16:35] not from anyone else but how big of a lie I was living under and how it took such a journey

[00:16:52] to break that off.

[00:16:54] You know I was just I was self-condemning myself about you know if I had taken better

[00:17:01] care of myself or if I would have made you know better choices everything was me focused

[00:17:11] if I would have had more faith if I would have you know I mean all kinds of thoughts

[00:17:18] that I was living under but all of it was surrounding I was looking inward and so much

[00:17:26] so that I got to the point where I could be around other people but not be present.

[00:17:36] I was so self-consumed not in a like oh so self-consumed like 40-20 no I mean just oppression

[00:17:48] and condemnation and when I was you know kind of thinking back through that today and I it

[00:17:56] just was such a good reminder of why it's so important to keep your focus on Jesus and

[00:18:03] not on yourself because you'll live under condemnation you'll live under lies you'll

[00:18:09] live under self-works.

[00:18:12] You know I say this a lot but it wasn't my obedience that you know brought me righteousness

[00:18:19] it was Christ's obedience but living under that deception and fear.

[00:18:27] This is deception and fear you place yourself under because in actuality you are the righteousness

[00:18:33] of God through Jesus Christ.

[00:18:34] So if you're the righteousness of God through Jesus Christ you can't be condemned unless

[00:18:39] you're applying that to yourself.

[00:18:42] And constantly living in that place of fear of you know honestly just misplaced fear all

[00:18:55] the way around.

[00:18:57] Fear of the medical route, fear of being out of work.

[00:19:06] Again see everything was focused on me like I was the answer and if I didn't work what

[00:19:12] would that you know how would our household survive and if I you know had to take medical

[00:19:19] care well then I wasn't in faith.

[00:19:21] And then just all these different things that I had lies that I had bought into and was

[00:19:28] heaping self-condemnation on myself so much so that it's like in the midst of that

[00:19:37] place how can you keep your eyes on Jesus because you know you're so fixated on your

[00:19:44] own self.

[00:19:47] And how in that process I really did have to learn to shift my focus and to shift what

[00:19:55] I was looking at instead of myself and my own situation and circumstances and onto him

[00:20:02] but and just thinking about that as I think about looking forward I was looking backward

[00:20:08] thinking through it and then I thought how do I apply that looking forward how do I keep

[00:20:13] Jesus as my focus looking forward and I pursue him instead of my own wants you know it's

[00:20:26] instead of instead of getting up in the morning saying what do I want to do today.

[00:20:31] How do I get up and start my day pursuing him and saying what do you want me to do today

[00:20:37] who you know who am I in you that you want me how do I reflect you today how do I apply

[00:20:44] being your hands and feet your mouthpiece.

[00:20:47] What is what does that look like on a daily you know not just when tragedy or a need

[00:20:56] the big things but just you know put my feet on the ground how do I do that and that's

[00:21:04] sort of where my headspace has been today just thinking through it's important that

[00:21:10] we look back and see him all throughout but how do we look ahead and see him and all

[00:21:15] of those things right the unknowns the dreams and the visions that we have for

[00:21:20] the future how do we look keep our eyes on him but move into those things you know it's

[00:21:29] easy looking back because you're like oh well there's where I had my eyes in the right place

[00:21:35] and there's where I didn't but how do we set our focus.

[00:21:42] I think he has to be preeminent like in everything he has to be preeminent.

[00:21:50] And that may mean you stop subscribing to Netflix it might mean you stop buying coffee at Starbucks

[00:22:01] because that's what you look forward to.

[00:22:06] It might be a cigarette I've been there you know I mean it could be anything it

[00:22:09] could be your kids it could be your spouse we could be yourself your hang ups your hiccups

[00:22:18] yeah and it usually does come back to us we're our worst enemies in that regard by normal

[00:22:28] standards and you know he deserves to be preeminent for sure so how do we make him preeminent

[00:22:39] you know that's the that's like the hardest part right well and you think about the scripture

[00:22:45] that says seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and everything else will be

[00:22:53] added and how much of the time do we spend seeking everything else I heard a man say

[00:22:59] the other day he doesn't even pray for God to help him with his needs because he says

[00:23:08] the scripture specifically says he knows what I need he's talking about the Gentiles run

[00:23:14] after these things that he then run after these things but the father knows what you need

[00:23:20] and he's provided it and the guy was like I don't even pray for what I need because

[00:23:25] I know God already knows what I need and he's got it that's a pretty nice level

[00:23:29] of faith to live in right there well I heard someone say just this morning the word

[00:23:37] they used was extra he's the God of the extra not just the God of enough right but

[00:23:43] it's always more than enough so it's always the extra and we do tend to look

[00:23:50] like at just sometimes supply what we have to have but he's always interested in

[00:23:57] the extra and you know in a silly way but it's kind of like making pancakes

[00:24:08] this morning you were making pancakes you could have made five pancakes and said

[00:24:15] okay everybody gets a pancake you know the kids you know I don't like pancakes so

[00:24:19] one one interesting I'm in a minute fasting so I didn't get any either but

[00:24:25] you don't want to make enough just to say you fed them you made enough that

[00:24:33] if they wanted more they could come back and eat more pancakes and they were huge

[00:24:40] yeah they were huge and matter of fact I saw Luke eating one a little bit ago he

[00:24:45] just picked it up and folded it and was like eating it walking through the

[00:24:50] hours later ten hours later and actually my alum had one for dessert after

[00:24:55] supper nice that must have been pretty good so they're still eating those

[00:25:01] pancakes but my point is you didn't just make enough so that you could say okay

[00:25:07] mark that off the list they're fed breakfast is done you made enough so

[00:25:12] that they could have as many as they wanted and there's still some left so

[00:25:19] it's it's above and beyond it is Ephesians 3 20 it is exceedingly

[00:25:23] abundantly above but and I'm you know not being like greedy when I say we should

[00:25:34] expect that not just we set our expectations to my sister he's he wants

[00:25:43] to lavish upon you well and I can't I don't know where it is but it there is a

[00:25:49] scripture that says and if it weren't enough I would have given you more I

[00:25:54] think he was talking the Solomon then if all this weren't enough I would have

[00:26:01] given you more what just for Solomon by the way well no but I'm saying I just

[00:26:09] think we set up we personally I'm not talking like heaping this on anybody

[00:26:14] else I think we personally have said our expectations at times way too low that's

[00:26:20] why we live in a little house and and not that you're looking at the things no

[00:26:27] but I mean like when when we needed a place to live my list was yeah small

[00:26:33] from condemnation you asked for a small house tiny house yeah and had little

[00:26:38] kids which kind of made sense doesn't make sense anymore yeah but yeah so you

[00:26:44] know I think we got off topic sort of but in a roundabout way well I mean it's

[00:26:49] it's okay because there's there's truth there we are we're forgetting even the

[00:26:57] lavish and the bountiful from past because we're just looking at today

[00:27:01] we're like man nose to the grindstone if I can just make it till Friday I

[00:27:05] can just get those bills paid on time put a little bit of money to bank and go to

[00:27:10] the beach in the summer or something not us but I'm just saying not you because

[00:27:16] you're like the beach well not everybody can be perfect like me God had to make

[00:27:22] the ocean for the center one of the things you just said speaking of like

[00:27:27] just get to Friday when we were doing the interview this morning that was

[00:27:32] one of the biggest things that I said I remember about those hard day really

[00:27:38] hard days was how much I just how much time I spent watching the clock how

[00:27:44] many hours until I can take another round of Advil to dull the pain how

[00:27:53] many you know I would be counting down oh my goodness I still have another

[00:27:57] hour to go before I can you know I was taken every four hours how many hours

[00:28:02] do I have to stand here at work I would be watching the clock counting down the

[00:28:05] hours you know in the week I would be doing the same thing okay we're almost

[00:28:11] to the end of the week if I can just get through one more day then I'll

[00:28:15] have a break and even when I was bedridden before I went to the

[00:28:21] hospital for the first time I said it was the same thing then I was

[00:28:25] just give me one more day like if I can just get through one more day I think

[00:28:28] I'm gonna turn things around here you know and I said I ended up not

[00:28:34] realizing it because it happens gradually but everything I was doing at that

[00:28:40] time was based on the clock how how long will it take us to get from this

[00:28:46] place to that place because I need a bathroom nearby right how long you

[00:28:51] know because I knew I couldn't go more than an hour so I was always thinking

[00:28:55] about the clock how long am I gonna have to sit how long am I gonna stand how far

[00:29:01] do I have to walk yeah all of these things it was like time was you know I

[00:29:08] was just trying to get through to the next thing all the time and time is a

[00:29:12] prison it was yeah it was totally a prison I didn't I'd never in that

[00:29:19] time frame woke up thinking oh well you know new day sleep in or la la la you

[00:29:29] know it was like okay deep breath two hours to work you think I work six

[00:29:37] hours you know the car rides gonna be about 30 minutes okay you can do this

[00:29:40] and you get through that 30 minutes and then it's like okay you know you can

[00:29:45] get through this first client and then it was just constant you know and then four

[00:29:52] hours and you can take another round of Advil and how yeah how it was just again

[00:29:59] the focus was on the clock and on myself and the condemnation that went along

[00:30:07] with all that yeah and how just as I was looking back today thinking what a

[00:30:14] huge even just that answer to prayer that God has provided in I don't watch the

[00:30:23] clock anymore you know I don't spend I don't spend my days even if I'm at work

[00:30:30] yeah I'm not looking at the clock saying how many more hours do I have to be

[00:30:33] here you know or how many you know I don't take anything right thank the

[00:30:42] Lord so I'm not saying you know how long and just thinking through how freeing

[00:30:48] just that alone has been and I just I feel like maybe I don't always have enough

[00:31:01] gratitude for what God has delivered me from right you know as you get away

[00:31:08] from it yeah you get though you forget about the little things like that

[00:31:12] you forget the harsh how hard it was thankfully I mean that's that's well it

[00:31:18] it's good that you don't remember yeah I agree that you're not living in that all

[00:31:24] the time but at the same time how it is important and good to sort of look

[00:31:28] backwards and reflect and say thank you Lord from the things you've brought us

[00:31:33] from yeah and as we look forward into this year thinking you're gonna do it

[00:31:40] again like all the things that you the miracles that you've already done all the

[00:31:45] things that you've brought us through delivered us from he's still doing those

[00:31:49] things right bigger and better and greater and you know we can't get hung

[00:31:57] up in the moment right of where we are like to me this time of year is always

[00:32:02] like you know gloom but springs on its way which means summers right behind

[00:32:11] which I love by homeboat but I guess just just trying to strike a balance between

[00:32:22] our history and our future got you and but like you said but live today right

[00:32:31] you know you can't live back there or up there yet but what we do today matters

[00:32:38] because it is gonna be what we're living in you're setting the table for tomorrow

[00:32:43] you are you are I remember that this always struck me there was a car dealer

[00:32:49] and bought a couple cars some years ago one of them I remember I think my

[00:32:55] blazer came from there and the little silver one we had and he had a sign

[00:32:59] that always struck me that hung in there that says the car that you look at today

[00:33:03] and need to think about tomorrow is the same car someone looked at yesterday and

[00:33:10] thought about today it's like no pressure yeah but somebody was here before you

[00:33:18] getting ready to do what you're thinking about doing yeah I don't know

[00:33:21] why I can remember that I mean that goes back into the 1990s and it was at

[00:33:26] Jerry's dealership and it still sticks I need to tell Junior that it's still in

[00:33:30] my head it's probably still in his office but that's just in my head and it's

[00:33:35] always been there like this is just rolls around from time to time but it's

[00:33:39] the same way with life I mean you're literally setting the table today for

[00:33:43] tomorrow and if you don't sit at the table you're gonna get up and you're

[00:33:47] gonna be hungry and you're not gonna go where your plate is and the fork

[00:33:50] in the spoon and you gotta go to Walmart and get a buggy you know I'm

[00:33:54] saying you have to it's not like you got to be a doomsday prepper here but you

[00:33:59] do have to think about tomorrow but you're still living in today oh you just

[00:34:04] have to live today in a way that you're prepared for tomorrow that you're gonna

[00:34:11] want to live it's just like the old evangelist used to tell you you know

[00:34:15] if the Lord were to come tonight would you go to heaven you know I'm saying

[00:34:20] is like well if I don't go up there and get saved again I'm gonna die and

[00:34:23] go to hell if it happens you know so it's yeah you have to be prepared but

[00:34:28] you have to be presently prepared yeah yeah good stuff good topic we rolled

[00:34:38] around from the past present and future I did talk about rolling around on the

[00:34:43] podcast that is an episode coming up though guys we're not gonna leave you

[00:34:46] out of that one all right believe we're gonna roll out on that moving

[00:34:57] the best country songs of my childhood oh gosh yep all right just look it's not
