Milam is back, again, to start, again.....

[00:00:00] Hello, my name is Milam. This is my podcast, Milam in the Middle. This is about me and my family and I hope you like it. Welcome back into the Milam in the Middle podcast. I'm Kel Nelson and that's my son. Hey guys.

[00:00:30] His name's Milam by the way. That's the name of the show. Yeah. What's up dude? Nothing very much. Just decided to start back again. Alright so what you got on tap for us, excuse me in this episode of Milam in the Middle.

[00:00:45] Well I just want to talk about you know like what happened, well like what's been going on, you know like why don't we have a something in podcast for a few years and just kind of all that. Alright well go ahead. Here's the audience they're paying attention.

[00:00:58] Alright guys so what really happened, well why we had to stop making podcasts for a few years because our website got shut down right? Yeah yeah I got hacked and we lost access to the DNS.

[00:01:10] Yeah so that was pretty sad but um yeah so we were I guess you say like recovered from that I guess you could say. So yeah but we're back now and hoping to keep on going.

[00:01:24] Yeah yeah so we've been podcasting or you've been podcasting a long time I think you were seven or eight years old. I was eight years old. So that was about seven years ago six and a half or seven years ago.

[00:01:35] Um so tell me what's been happening since the last time we were here together on the show. Well last episode was in 2022 and it was like a relaunch video I talked about you know

[00:01:46] like where our plans are you know for upcoming and we're trying to we're going to try to stick to those plans you know. I'm going to try to do some interviews, that'd be a lot of fun and hoping to have Pixel Dan on the show.

[00:01:58] Yeah yeah speaking of Pixel Dan you actually met him in person. That was a lot of fun. Yeah Pixel Dan is a YouTube guy who's pretty brilliant actually a big he-man, Ninja Turtles, 80s kind of uh he's a little younger than me but he loves the

[00:02:12] 80s toys and 80s and 90s vintage toys. Uh really kind of came on what he really really digs is about five or ten years after I got out of toys. Oh yeah. It's still pretty cool because it's a good reminder of our past and how much fun

[00:02:27] we used to have as kids. So um it's been a while since we've been on you know we we've moved these microphones a hundred times in the last two years and uh now we've just

[00:02:38] got them set here not really how I want this to look by any stretch of the imagination but we're working towards that. I've got a new podcast going. Got some other projects in mind. Uh what can we expect uh from you and your Mylum and the Middle Show?

[00:02:52] Are we gonna get a new introductory song or are we just gonna leave it like it's always been? I don't know might change it up um I'll like to keep the same one you and just just for fun. Yeah yeah yeah you were really little by then.

[00:03:03] Oh yeah. Yeah it's been a while it's been a while a lot of a lot has happened since we started the program way back in the day um you know it wasn't too long before we went to podcast I think it was twenty sixteen or

[00:03:18] seventeen when I spoke there at podcast and you had just launched Mylum and the Middle which was pretty cool. So uh I mean what's outside of just podcast talk what's been going on with you here lately?

[00:03:29] Well I've been um doing some more artwork I'm trying to do some um re-trying to focus more on my art skills I've been doing some classes about drawing and that's a lot of fun and just developing my skills with art. Cool cool alright anything else going on?

[00:03:46] Let me think I've been staying for my ham license. Yeah yeah ham radio license we've talked about that in the past on the show so you're you're studying to get your license now. Yep. Okay that's cool. Anything else exciting or groundbreaking happening of late? Hmm just stuff.

[00:04:06] Just stuff. Alright well uh real quick show here are we winding it up are you done or more to say what's going on? Uh I might have a little bit more to say. Alright we're all ears.

[00:04:19] Well um with this show like it's been a long time but I really won't get back into it um you know at the summer you know school is out you know so I have more free time just to do this and other stuff. Okay that's cool.

[00:04:32] What what are you planning to do over the summer? Well I'm planning to get my ham license um plan to get better with art and thinking more on you know like just like I'm thinking about making a job seeing it like an older few few more years

[00:04:52] and I'm gonna go back to summer camp. Cool very cool well it's not cool at summer camp. Yeah I mean it's cool fun but it's hot. Oh yeah. Speaking of summer camp um I'll touch on that real quick uh your brothers and

[00:05:05] your older brothers and sister have worked summer camp for the last three years. This is the third year your sister's there by herself right now uh the older boys are working full time jobs

[00:05:15] and they stayed home for that regard but um have we ever talked about summer camp on the show before? Well we haven't cause our last episode was before we left. I think so so tell us a little bit about the summer camp you're talking about.

[00:05:31] Well I'm talking about deer run camps in retreats in Nashville Tennessee. Okay. In top sensation but you know for specifically it's in Nashville. Yeah yeah.

[00:05:39] But um it's it's a lot of fun you know I mean I met a bunch of people there and a lot of people I miss cause they're there right now and I'm not there but. Yeah so we've been up uh we've done family camp we've run camp pasturing

[00:05:52] you guys have uh your moms worked at the camp your brothers and sister worked at the camp you and your baby sister did some volunteering or volunteering at the camp since this deer run. Um tell me some more about why uh you enjoy that environment of summer camp.

[00:06:09] Well like there's um sorry my voice got a little weird there um there's a lot of like good Christians there they like like like you're surrounded by the gospel you know like it's just there you can feel it.

[00:06:22] There's a lot of good people there and like there's just a much like opportunity at camp. What's your favorite like part of camp? Probably like the people you know like in the meet people you know it's like take care of kids.

[00:06:37] Summer sometimes you have to get kids sometimes you don't it's just part of it. Cool well um so she's Caden's there working this year this summer and are you wanting to maybe go up in the next year or so and work as a counselor yourself?

[00:06:54] Yeah I'm planning you know I've been praying about this you know like asking God you're like well you're like should I be a counselor or cool you know. Gotcha alright anything else? Well let's talk more about camp cause people already know about what camp is. Alright.

[00:07:09] Sorry I've been doing some science and stuff. Well not doing but not planning on it. Yeah well it's that time of year your people's sinuses are all over the place. Oh yeah.

[00:07:20] Yeah so um do you run a camp in retreats you know like everybody has a camp name you know like you know it puts it to like a real name you know it's called name dropping. So you have an alternative identity? Yeah pretty much.

[00:07:32] Okay so you have a camp name. Alright so what's your camp name? Retro. Retro why the retro?

[00:07:39] Well because um I feel kind of cool you know cause like I'm in the toys you know from that time period you know just music and I was like why not you know. Yeah yeah okay cool.

[00:07:49] And a lot of people like my camp I got a lot of compliments on which was pretty cool. That is pretty cool yeah the 80s were great um anything else about camp you like swimming in the pond the lake? I did once it was pretty fun. Okay.

[00:08:02] It cools you off a lot. Yeah well it gets tight in the middle of July and middle Tennessee for sure. Yeah. Yeah anything else about camp? Um the zip line was fun did that a few times. Cool.

[00:08:15] Um zip lines fast especially when you you know weigh what I weigh it goes real fast. Yeah.

[00:08:22] It's a great run lots of great folks there um you know can't say enough about I wouldn't allow my kids to go six and a half hours away from home and work if if I didn't like what they were doing up there. Yeah.

[00:08:34] Although I wish you know they worked at a camp 30 minutes away from home it'd be a lot easier for sure. Like a lodge? Yeah yeah somewhere like that here in the the upstate of SC would be amazing.

[00:08:43] Yeah but you know like once you go to Deer Run you're like you're like you're you weren't changed you know like you're just going like well you're like I never like won't leave pretty much how it goes.

[00:08:56] Yeah yeah it's a lot of fun we had a blast last year looking forward to hopefully going up at the end of this summer maybe the last week and spending the week there as a family. Yeah.

[00:09:05] It'd be a lot of fun so um make sure you check out Deer Run camps and retreats there and they're uh outside of Nashville and Tennessee. Outside of Nashville and Thompson Station Tennessee.

[00:09:15] They're leaving for all ages all they have stuff for all the family like a father or son they have them or a daughter camp they have them a family camp for the whole family they have like. They're doing something year round up there.

[00:09:27] Yeah they have like retreat groups I go um yeah they have like winter camp summer camp spring day camp I mean like it's all all year round. All the time yeah they're very busy. Great people love those folks for sure. Cool man. Alright anything else? That's it.

[00:09:44] Alright well here we go. Thank you guys for listening. Thank you. Yeah we'll be back next time on Mylam in the Middle. Alright bye guys. Thanks for watching my podcast. You can find it online at MylamintheMiddle.com. MylamintheMiddle.com.
